Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, Milton Ruben attended Tulane University and received his undergraduate degree in Accounting. He then went on to achieve a masters degree from the University of Georgia. Choosing to take on a daring career decision and diverting from his plans of being a CPA, Milton Ruben decided to go to work for Harison-Gully Chevrolet of Augusta in 1979, which was owned by two brothers from Detroit, Michigan.
Mr. Ruben found his calling and became a more aggressive businessman in January 1 of 1982 when he bought Harison Gulley Chevrolet and turned it into Milton Ruben Chevrolet. Their first ad read “Milton Ruben and Chevrolet! Appearing together for the first time”. Milton Ruben was selling brand new Chevy Camaros for $8,982.50. The original shop opened on May 13, 1982 and was located at Walton Way and Twelth Street in Augusta, Georgia. In 1986, Milton Ruben Chevrolet had outgrown their showroom in downtown Augusta and broke ground at 3514 Washington Road in Augusta, Georgia on June 12, 1986.
Mr. Ruben added several new brands in 1992, including Porsche, Audi, and Chrysler. He then owned the “CSRA’s (Central Savannah River Area) Largest Volume Dealer”. They offered new and used Chevrolet, Porsche, Audi, and Chrysler cars and trucks. This successful “Ma’N’Pop” business currently (2010) has an inventory of over 1,600 new and used vehicles including brands by Chevrolet, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep, Toyota, and Scion.
